History The development of RiScript has started in the early nineties of the last century as a spare time project to gain experience in areas like programming languages, graphics, user interfaces and RISC OS programming. RiScript version 2 was made available as a freeware application, and its success was overwhelming. In 1997 an improved commerical version became available as release 3 by Uniqueway. The commercial venture was continued by Cerilica in 1999, resulting in release 4 of the product. Unfortunately this also came to an end, as Cerilica stopped most of its RISC OS activities. After a long period of uncertainty, we decided to restart distribution of RiScript ourselves. The result of this the availablity of RiScript version 5. What started as a simple PostScript viewer, supporting of a subset of PostScript level 1, has grown out to the current complete PostScript and PDF imaging package. About the authors RiScript has been developed by Jeroen Medema and Roeland van den Bos, two former collegues of Royal Philips Electronics B.V. Jeroen is still a Philips employee in the function of software architect. He spends his spare time (apart from RiScript development, of course) with his family, photography, chess and reading philosophical books. Roeland is working for Atos Origin and hired by several companies, currently as a software configuration manager. His hobbies are riding his motorbike, fitness and making movies. Furthermore, he is active in a small NGO that finances projects in Burkina Faso (www.geldrop-burkinafaso.nl).
